Honoring the past - inspiring the future

Volunteer Info

Wreaths Across America, Chattanooga is proud to be honoring our Heroes at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Our mission is to ensure every veteran is honored with a wreath each year.  As there is no government funding for the honoring of our Heroes with wreaths in December, we rely on local Patriots like you to sponsor wreaths to make this mission happen. (Wreaths Across America, Chattanooga has no paid employees).

All Wreaths ARE PURCHASED FROM Wreaths Across AmeriCA.

For every $17 wreath sponsored through our website, $5 goes toward a wreath for an unknown. So for every 7 wreaths sponsored ($119), 9 wreaths come to the cemetery and 2 unknowns are honored!

Please Note: Chattanooga National Cemetery Staff is not responsible for the Wreaths Across AMERICA event at the cemetery.

Wreath retirement will occur on January 17, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

We’re looking forward to a beautiful day of service and Honor for our service men and women resting in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Please bring gloves, bring a friend, bring your patience. Rakes or short pieces (10 ft) of rope are handy as we carry the wreaths to the roadside.

When you enter the main gate from Holtzclaw, turn right and proceed SLOWLY. There will be lots of people in a small space. We will park on the edge of the roadway on the RIGHT (OUTSIDE) of the circle ONLY. Please do not park in the grass. Look for workers and volunteers in a safety vest for directions and information. Thank you each and every one of you for stepping up. This does NOT happen without you!

Wreath placement is a time to remember, honor, and teach. Wreath laying is not an adornment of graves. We do not decorate. We remember our heroes, their service, their sacrifices. We participate not to honor their deaths but to celebrate their lives.

Here are a few basic guidelines for you or your group when honoring the life of the deceased on National Wreaths Across America Day December 19,2026.

  1. No wreaths are to be placed until after the (very short) 10AM ceremony.

  2. Please do not take more than one or two wreaths at a time for placement.  Many people want to participate, and we want to allow everyone the opportunity.

  3. Place the wreath with reverence, bow at the top, pause in gratitude, say their name (or thank you), and salute the stone that represents the person whose memory is being honored. If you are non-military, you can bow your head in respect in lieu of a hand salute. (For proper wreath placement etiquette, watch the video below)

  4. Wreaths are to only be placed in designated sections. Please do not move boxes to other sections.

  5. Additionally, please graves where family members have asked to place the wreath are identified with small, solid colored flags. Please allow family members to place these Grave Specific Wreaths and don’t remove them once placed.  Please do not remove the flags, even after wreath placement, as they help us ensure all the Grave Specific Wreaths have been placed.

Blessings and comfort to you and yours in the New Year. We are grateful to have you participate.

Take Action

It is said that a person dies twice. Once when his physical body dies and once when his name is said for the last time. We want all American Heroes to be remembered. We can’t do that without your support. You can donate toward wreaths, and/or volunteer your services.
